The Buckhorn Cemetery Association proudly presented
Moody Cub Scout Pack
425
an "Appreciation Award," Monday, May 19, 2003.
Those present from the
association were Virginia Dean, Celesta Price and Joyce
Woods Cox. The
Cubs along
with their leaders and families contribute an annual
cleanup to help
preserve the
old Buckhorn Cemetery.
The beautiful grounds are maintained through kind
contributions of
descendants and caring people like Cub Scout Pack 425.
The land was
donated by Rev. D.
N. Hembree from more than a hundred years ago.
"Parson" Hembree, as he
was
known, was a farmer and a circuit preacher who rode a
mule from place to
place.
He served as a chaplain in the War Between The States.
He was born in
1838,
died in 1921.
Cub Scout Pack 425 is an inspiration to the
organization. Their
excellent
leadership for teaching the responsibilities taken on in
scouting are:
Cub
Master, Theresa Backus, and her assistant Kurt Hall;
Weblo Den Leader is
Tammy Brown
and Randy Gates; Den Leader for Tigers and Wolves is
Marvin Yates and
Candy
Morgan. The scouts meet every Monday at 6:30 p.m., First
United
Methodist
Church in Moody.
The plaque reads: Appreciation Award to Moody Cub Scout
Pack 425 for
Your
Annual Contribution to Buckhorn Cemetery Association.
Presented 2003.
The cemetery is located south west of Moody off of 2601
and Meadow Grove
Road.
