Old Perry Cemetery Dedication Held

Old Perry Cemetery Dedication was held Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2001, at the cemetery. Invocation was by Rev. Eddie Smart of First United Methodist Church of Moody. The public was invited to attend annual meeting and dedication of new wrought iron fence and arched gate built by the Moody High School Agriculture Science class under the direction of their instructor, Mike Alton. Presenting the colors, was American Legion Post 273 of McGregor. Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful and Amazing Grace was played by Moody High School ensemble directed by Melissa Smith. Speakers were, Nancy Britton and Mike Alton. Benediction was by Rev. Javier Leyva, pastor of El Buen United Methodist Church of Moody. Musicians were Brandon Honea, Jordan Slentz, Jason Krietemeyer, and Matthew Smith.

The Board of Trustees would like to thank everyone for helping make this day possible. Gary Martin Wrecker Service of Moody for using his truck to host the new wrought iron archway sign over the entrance gate. Stone Masons by Borden Brick Company, Dwayne and Bonnie Borden, Alley Borden, Bennett Borden. Conners Crush Stone, Thomas and Chad Dowell. Native Stone furnished for the entrance columns by Bill and Jo Barsh. Marker for Jane Leach by Phipps Memorial of Waco. McGregor American Legion Post 273, gift of land by Claudellen and the late W. H. Barsh. Pat and Paul Fehler, tent by Centex Cemetery Services, Pete Cavazos, owner and Moody Schools Band Director Melissa Smith. Refreshments were served to approximately 75 people. President of the Association is Pat Fehler, vice president Nancy Britton and secretary, Claudellen Barsh.
